Age of Sigmar narrative gaming has been on offer at some US conventions for several years (NOVA, Adepticon, LVO and a few other smaller cons) thanks to diligent NEOs, but this year at Adepticon it was bigger than ever!
Two Age of Sigmar events, one Warcry event and one Hinterlands (skirmish) event!
“The Festermere Conflict” – AoS narrative
The Festermere Conflict was a one-day narrative for Age of Sigmar, ran by NEO Zak Kulhan (@ZakFieri).
Set in the boggy regions of the Everspring Swathe in Ghyran, players explored themed gaming tables with specific objectives, each a location on the map (which was custom-made for the occasion, and re-imagined the official Ghyran map with its own brand of swampy grotty and troggy critters).

Zak has ran several installments of the Festermere before, originally spun out of a Soulbound campaign. Each installment advances the story told and the conflicts in this region. You can read all about it in a previous interview with Zak.
Heroes of the Hinterlands – cooperative Age of Sigmar skirmish
Heroes of the Hinterlands is a rogue-like solo/co-op dungeon-crawl style take on Age of Sigmar, first published on White Dwarf 458, and ran by @Greaverblade. During the event, players controlled one model in a warband of heroes, fighting cooperatively against hordes of AI-controlled enemies, for treasures and power found during a post-battle exploration phase.
Players enjoyed the casual pace and general silliness of the whole thing, and watching “Their GuyTM” plow their way through hordes of enemies.

“Among the Sundered Scales” & “The Root-Halls of Hungry Trees” – Warcry narrative
These two one-day events were ran by the Dogs of Warcry (@dogsofwarcry) of the Mortal Realms podcast group. Each event was standalone and offered a slightly different narrative experience on the game.
“Sundered Scales” took the form of branching quests of 3 battleplans set in the Gnarlwood, for control of the many mawpits opening everywhere, and deciding how to harness them for their goals. Each quest interacted differently with the mawpits, and warbands approached closer and closer to the Sundered Scales ruins. The event was capped by a final multiplayer battle, always a fan-favorite.
“Root-Halls” was a deep-narrative event where each player brough an NPC model, which had special rules. As the title suggests, there were A LOT of hungry Gnarloaks!

The Dogs of Warcry themselves and Dan from The Salty Sea (@thesaltyseagames) covered the Warcry events in depths, you can find the recordings below:
“The Gibbering Dome 2024″ – AoS narrative
subtitle
The return of the AoS narrative of many years, ran by Paul Wagner (@pjschard), and players once more braved the demiplane ruined library in the space between the realms. Like the previous years, each player brought a 1000pts army, followed Path to Glory advancement rules, and was paired with a rival, with whom they would build a narrative leading towards their final confrontation in the last battle of the day!

More and more narrative offerings are popping up, you should hit up your nearest convention and check out if they have any. If not, maybe you can be the one who reach out to them and offer to run one? 😉
